Daryl "Robert" Pope Jr., 39
Of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on April 6, 1985, in Dothan, Alabama, to Daryl Pope Sr. and Elizabeth Sheffield Pope. He attended Valdosta High School and remained a devoted Wildcat fan with an unwavering passion for sports, especially Alabama football, NASCAR, and Braves baseball. His love for the thrill of competition extended beyond the field into his fondness for animal documentaries and fishing, reflecting his deep appreciation for nature. A beloved son, brother, uncle, and truly selfless friend, his presence was a gift to those lucky enough to know him. He was someone who wore his heart on his sleeve—always giving, always there for others, and leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Leroy Pope; paternal uncle, Ronald Pope; and maternal aunt, Joan Sheffield Baker. Survivors include: Mother, Elizabeth Sheffield Pope; father, Daryl Robert Pope Sr. (Tammy); brother and best friend, Brandon Pope; sister and brother-in-law, Taylor Kimmerling (Ryan); nephew, Nash Douthit; maternal grandmother, Joan Tew Brock (Newman); maternal grandfather, Bill Sheffield (Jan); paternal grandmother, Nell Pope Collins; maternal uncle, William Sheffield; paternal aunt, Freida Swicword (Hugh); Stepsisters, Lauren Sparks; Chelsea Sparks Harvey (Christopher); nephew, Gray Harvey; lifelong best friend, Sean Vega; special friend, Clara Register; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
