David Ellic Matthew Porter
Born April 3, 1979 at Hahn A.B., W. Germany and departed this life February 5, 2015. Matthew is the son of Cathy Ware of Valdosta and David E. Porter of Lakeland, GA. He has two sisters: Angela D. Greenwell husband Mark Greenwell of Valdosta and Stephanie D. Pratt husband Gary L. Pratt, niece Destinee R. Pratt nephew Gary E. Pratt of Valdosta. Matthew will forever be remembered and loved by son Dalton Eugene Gage Porter, daughter Catherine Dalene Porter, son CJ Maine, Kelly Lofton, and Hunter Lofton of Stockton. Matthew's one desire in life was to have children; he adored the children he was blessed with and his Wife, Jessica Lofton Porter. His children were his life, your father loved you with all his heart and will forever be looking down on you from heaven and will be in your heart. He never wished to be away from any of you, you were his life.
Matthew had become close friends with Mr. David J. Willis of Valdosta, fiancé of his mother. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle and husband. He never met anyone in trouble that he wouldn't try to help. From some who needed their car worked on to anything else he could possibly help with. You might have even remembered that young, stocky, fair-haired young man stopping to change a tire for you on the roadside. He usually drove an old clunker held together with his mechanical ability and prayers.
At the time of his death, he was employed by Home Depot RDC. Matthew often spoke of his job and the people he worked with. He really enjoyed his work and liked his co-workers. He was an avid fan of the Braves, Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed talking and watching sports with his Dad. Growing up, he played baseball, football, and basketball while in school.
Matthew attended the Lowndes County school system and served in the U.S. Army.
Matt is preceded in death by Grandparents: Dale E. Porter and Vertice M. Porter of Crestview, FL.
Grandmother: Lizzie Mae Nicholson Ware Henderson of Temples, GA.
Our loving beautiful son and brother is now with his heavenly father where he will never feel pain or hurt again. Matthew, we will never forget your smile, your hugs or the sound of your voice.
Matthew was a Loving father and husband, generous loyal friend, caring gracious brother and son. The years never tarnished his smile or dreams, the memories of this gentle man will be forever in our hearts.
