Deloras Courson, age 70, of Lakeland, Georgia passed away on January 22, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 10, 1953, Valdosta, Georgia to the late Chester Edward Moore and Myrtle (Delk) Adams. Mrs. Deloras loved spending time with her family, fishing and travelling on short trips. She worked for Farmers and Merchants Bank for 20 years, and at the U.S. Postal Service for another 20 years where she retired as Postmaster at the Ray City post office. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her niece, Heather Benefield.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronnie Courson of Lakeland, Georgia; daughter Stacy Branch and husband Walt of Lakeland, Georgia; son, Scott Courson and wife Crystal of Lakeland, Georgia; five grandchildren: Devon Branch and wife Monica, Caleb Courson and Hannah, Caitlyn Nelson and husband Robert, Drew Courson, Callen Courson; two great grandchildren: Waylon Nelson, Averie Courson; bonus great granddaughter, Bellamy; two sisters, Patricia Stapleton of Newbern, North Carolina, Linda O’Connell and husband Rick of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother Larry Moore and wife Jan of Lakeland, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Unity Methodist Church in Lakeland, Georgia with burial to follow in Mud Creek Cemetery.
