Derek Edward North

Of Stockton, passed way Monday afternoon February 23, 2009 after the fire truck he was riding in over turned while responding to a fire. He was born December 26, 1974 in Lowndes County, Georgia to James "Jimmy" and Judy Ann Floyd North. While in High School he began to work at Harvey's Supermarket. This became his only place of employment, and he worked with them for 18 years. His latest position was the store manager at the Homerville, GA location. He was a member of the Lanier County/Stockton Volunteer Fire Department, EMT B-Training, and Reedy Creek Hunting Club. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Edward Floyd and his mother-in-law Joyce Cooper Gray

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 in The Southside Baptist Church in Lakeland, with burial following in Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
