DeWayne Watson, 74, of Lakeland, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Lifecare Center Nursing Home in Fitzgerald, GA. He was born on April 4, 1950, to the late Esther “Lena” and Lee “LC” Watson in Lakeland, where he spent his formative years and built a life dedicated to his passions.
A talented and self-employed automobile mechanic, DeWayne was known for his skill and dedication to his craft, serving his community until health issues necessitated his retirement. He approached life with a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family and friends.
Survivors include: children, Jesse “Peanut” Watson, Bobby Watson, Crystal Nelson and Tina; several grandchildren: nieces and nephews; sisters: Marie Gyr of Naylor, GA, Betty Carolyn Faulkner of Lakeland, GA, and Linda Faye Donaldson of Nashville, GA; brothers: Clarence “Midge” Watson, Jr. of Lakeland, GA, Dennis L. Watson (Betty) of Lakeland, GA and Willie Lee “Bill” Watson (Ruthie) of Naylor, GA.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 7, 2024 at Empire Cemetery in Lanier County, GA. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home in Lakeland. Kind words of sympathy can be left for the family by visiting
