Diane Margaret Sapp, 80, of Ray City, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center.
She was born on March 31, 1945, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, to the late John Allan and Erma Thomas Allan. Diane was raised on a dairy farm, where she developed the strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that would define her life.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Diane began her career in a local sewing factory. When the factory closed, she courageously returned to school and, at the age of 54, earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Val-Tech College (now Wiregrass Georgia Technical College). She went on to work in a nursing home, where she found great fulfillment in caring for others. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to service later extended into her personal life, as she lovingly cared for her disabled veteran husband with tireless devotion.
Diane and her beloved husband, Gwendolyn Dewey Sapp, shared 56 wonderful years together. Their love was unwavering, and they traveled North America side by side, building a lifetime of cherished memories. They also shared a special bond with their dog, Buster, who was more than a pet—he was a constant and loyal companion. Buster was deeply loved by both Diane and Gwen, even receiving his own meal when the couple dined out. His comforting presence remained with them both through the end of their lives.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gwendolyn Dewey Sapp; and her brothers, Victor John Allan and Jeff Allan.
Survivors include her sons: Kevin Sapp (Stephanie) of Somerville, Tennessee and Ryan Sapp of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren: Levi Sapp (Kassidy), Clayton Sapp (Destani), Luke Sapp (Chloe), Chad Sapp, Krystin Sapp, Garrett Sapp (Jada); great grandchildren: Bradley, Ace, Skylar and Hayden; siblings: Linda Stephenson (Phil Cooper) of Cambridge, Ontario, Loreen Walters (Gary) of Norwich, Ontario and Nancy Bates (Barry) of Burgessville, Ontario; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
