Dilmus Wilburn Pierce 86
Of Lakeland passed away at his residence early Thursday morning June 23, 2005 after a brief illness. He was born in Lanier County, GA and lived in Lakeland most of his life. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II in the West Indies, Papua, New Guinea, and other places in the world. He was an avid outdoorsmen, who loved to fish. He loved all sports especially college basketball and the Atlanta Braves. He was a rural mail carrier before his retirement, a member of the National Rural Letter Association, Woodman of the World, and the Farm Bureau. He was a faithful member of the Unity United Methodist Church, serving on the board of trustees, and a member of the Methodist Men. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Nancy Pierce, sister Beatrice Pierce Everett, brother Billy Pierce, sister-in-law Helen Pierce, and a nephew Rusty Hudson.
