Of Ray City passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on August 1, 1935 in Hancock, Ga to the late Doc Pierce and Annie (Lott) Askew. Donald was a Veteran in the United States Air Force where he served 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, and playing cards. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his 3 sisters, Vivian Crawford, Runette Dunn, and Edna Quinn; 6 brothers, D.P. Askew, Prinup Askew, Doc Askew, Carl Askew, Alton Askew and Wayne Askew.
Survivors include: 3 Daughters and Son-in-law, Patty Cooksey of Adel, GA; Pamela & Robert Jefferson of Ray City, GA; Sherri Askew Kerchner of Valdosta, GA; 9 Grandchildren; Justin, Ashleigh, Lindsay, Monica, Erica, Destiny, Brooklin, Dawson and Braylee; 4 Great Grandchildren; Spouse, Wanda Askew of Lake Park, GA; Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at New Bethel Baptist Church, Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church. As per his wishes he will be cremated after the service and a burial will be held at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
