Of Valdosta passed away Monday November 14, 2011 at her home after a battle with cancer. She was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Don and Odell Shawley. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Shady Grove, Florida and was the Adult Class Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include: husband, Jessie Benefield; children: Brenda and Lee Pyle with 10 children and 15 grandchildren; Becky and Richard Thompson with 2 children; Bonnie and Chuck Martin with 3 children; Jesse and Marie Benefield with 2 children; and Eliza and Ric Ramos with 2 children; siblings, Mary Ann Cason, Anne Marie Komacko, Ellen Mellinger and Donald Shawley.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Campground Cemetery, Morven. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Albany Field Office, P.O. Box 1292, Albany, GA 31702 or the Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center, SGMC, 2501 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602.
