Doris Skinner Cumbus, age 84, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center. Doris was born on August 6, 1941, in Nashville, Georgia to the late Shelton and Armittie Skinner.
Doris dedicated many years of service to BellSouth as a Customer Service Representative, where she took great pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way. She was a faithful member of Bemiss Road Baptist Church and cherished her church family deeply.
Above all, Doris was devoted to her family. She had a caring and selfless spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own. She lovingly cared for her siblings during difficult times and remained by their side throughout their lives. Doris also enjoyed traveling and treasured every opportunity to take a trip, no matter how near or far.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Cumbus; her brothers, J.W. Skinner, J.C. Skinner, Shelton Skinner and Bobby Skinner; and her sister, Jeanette Sirmans.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Marie Cumbus of Orange Park, and Lloyd and Robin Cumbus of Lake Park; her brother, Ronald Skinner of Ray City; her grandchildren, Jackson Cumbus, Savannah Cumbus, Hunter English, Bryer and Taylor White, Joseph and Lainey White. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM, until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Friendship Cemetery, Hahira, Georgia Kind words and messages of sympathy can be left for the family by visiting www.musicfuneralservices.com. The Cumbus family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.
