M. Doris Sumner – 76
Of Valdosta passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 30, 1938 in Cook County, GA to the late Leonard & Leila Courson Futch. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. In 1966 she and her late husband, Roy A. Sumner purchased Zant's Flower Shop where they worked side by side until his death in 2009. She was the office manager, bookkeeper and RPA Roy's personal assistant. She directed hundreds of weddings throughout South Georgia. Between 1976 and 1996 she and her husband owned and operated Sumner Funeral Home. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and entertain at her house. Her and Roy also enjoyed traveling the country with the Travelers Protection Association. She was preceded in death by her husband whom she was married to for 52 years, Roy A. Sumner, sister Marilyn Dew and brothers-in-law Elmer Blansfield and Paul Sumner.

"Boots" Blansfield, Bear, DE, Beth & Randall McClelland, Valdosta, GA, Janice Sumner, Valdosta, GA; Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-laws, Robert & Rosalyn Sumner, Lake Park, GA, Carroll & Melinda Sumner, Roxboro, NC, Jimmy Dew, Valdosta, GA; Caregivers: Annette Coker, Hahira, GA, Joy Beth Weeks, Valdosta, GA, Norma Valiket, Hahira, GA and all the staff at Zant's Flower Shop, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
