Of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born in What Cheer, Iowa on February 13, 1924 to the late Charles Edward & Bertha Schneider Humes. She and her husband, Hoke started Vaughn Battery & Alternator Company in 1960 and she continued to work there until her retirement in 1999. Following retirement she continued being actively involved in the community serving as a Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center. She was an avid bowler and loved playing cards with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Smith Vaughn and son, Hoke Smith Vaughn, Jr.
She is survived by her, Son & Daughter-in-law, Fred & Sue Vaughn, Watkinsville, GA; Daughters, Becky Herndon, Valdosta, GA, Julia Vaughn, Smyrna, GA; 5 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; 2 Step Grandchildren; Sister, Dorothy Reber & Family, Iowa
A private family service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, February 7, 2011 at Mrs. Vaughn's home, 3103 Huntington Ridge Circle, Valdosta, GA.
