Doris R. Wisenbaker – 92
Of Dasher, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born on June 12, 1924 in Lumber City, GA to the late Meldrim Walter and Mary “Bessie” Mashburn Rogers. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Wisenbaker; granddaughter, Serra Wisenbaker and brothers, Pete and Pat Rogers.
An honor graduate from Valdosta High School, she was very patriotic and was selected for a top secret job during WWII to work on the Norden Bombsight. Then she enjoyed work as a bookkeeper for A.J. Strickland after which she married and they built the family farm business in Dasher. She loved her dogs, flowers and yard work and was a kind caregiver, great cook and seamstress always dedicated to her family. She always stressed the value of a good education and high moral character and was always known as a tenacious worker who got the job done.
Survivors include her 2 daughters & Son in Laws Betty(Ron) Barton; Sautee, GA, Marie (Rick) Waters; Athens, GA
Sons & Daughter in Laws Buddy Wisenbaker; Dasher, GA, John (Lee) Wisenbaker; Dasher, GA, Larry (Elizabeth) Wisenbaker; Hahira, GA, Grandchildren: John Jr., Jarid, Jodi, William, Amy & Katie Wisenbaker, Lindsey (Bryant) Alonso and a Special family friend, Tim Thornhill.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Langdale Hospice House 2263 Pineview Dr, Valdosta, GA 31602 or to the Baptist Village 763 Johnston Way, Lake Park, GA 31636.
