Dorothy Jean Godwin, 83
Of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Godwin was born on January 13, 1938 to the late Ester Nelle Millirons and Robert Charles Horne in Hahira, Georgia. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and shopping at thrift stores. But most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and fishing in Palatka, Florida (even when her health was not good). Before the company went out of business, she worked as a bag inspector and machine operator for Hood Packaging. Dorothy is preceded in death by her two sisters, Sylvia Cardin and Betty Boykin; brothers, Wade “Bo” Horne and Donald Horne; grandson, Donald “Austin” Watson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Kenneth Godwin of Valdosta; daughter and son in-law, Sherry and Randy Boyd of Valdosta; daughter and son in-law, Heather and Donald Wrye, Jr. of Valdosta; granddaughter and her husband, Lindsey and Kevin Wilson of Valdosta; granddaughter and her fiancé, Kamie Wrye and Christopher Crumley of Valdosta; grandson and his wife, Daniel and Brooke Wrye of Hahira; great grandchildren, Dalton Wilson, Kinsley Crumley, Gabby Wrye, Landon Wrye all of Valdosta and Brysen Wrye of Hahira; brother and sister in-law, Jake and Pricilla Horne of Valdosta; brother and sister in-law, Bobby and Darlene Coppedge of Dasher; brother and sister in-law, Lee and Elaine Godwin of Morven; sister in-law, Mary Ann Dell of Morven along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 6, 2021 in the chapel of Music Funeral Service located at 3831 N. Valdosta Road Valdosta, GA with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 that same day. Because of the weather affected wetness of the grave space, interment is rescheduled to take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in the Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
