Douglas A. Oliver, Sr. – 81 of Valdosta, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at South Georgia Medical Center after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was born on November 16, 1942, in Carnesville, GA, to the late Clayton and Minnie (Black) Oliver.
In his early years, Douglas found his way in the metalworking industry before discovering his true calling as a carpenter, a profession he embraced wholeheartedly until health challenges forced him to retire. A man of simple pleasures, he found joy in the tranquility of fishing, often cherishing the moments spent by the water.
Douglas is lovingly remembered by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Oliver, Jr., along with his devoted parents. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors Include: Wife of 62 years: Beatrice Oliver, Valdosta, GA; 2 Daughters: Margaret Oliver, Valdosta, GA; Melissa Oliver, Valdosta, Ga; 6 Grandchildren: Angela Britt (Nathan), Christie Oliver, Steven Sipes (Stephanie), Jase Sipes, Stormy Delk and Allie Sipes; 4 Great Grandchildren: Gracie Britt, Steven Sipes, III, Brenson Delk and Kealee Sipes; Brother: Jerry Oliver, Valdosta, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Valdosta, Georgia. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the funeral home. Kind words and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at
