Dr. William O. “Bill” Cason, age 84, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Sunday, October 19, 2025. He was born on November 3, 1940, to the late, Lewis Cason and Nellie Jane Kight Cason in Homerville, GA.
Dr. Cason honorably served in the United States Air Force, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and leadership. He received his academic credentials from Valdosta State University and Georgia State University, earning a Ph.D. His passion for education and dedication to student success led him to serve as a high school principal in multiple school systems across the state. He served as a school superintendent in Colleton County, SC; Sumter County 17, SC; and Valdosta City Schools. He later served as a school finance consultant across the state. He had over 50 years of service to the students across Georgia and South Carolina. He was widely respected for his vision, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Dr. Cason was also devoted to his family. He led them with honor, integrity, and loyalty. A man of few words, he embodied the true spirit of a patriarch.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette Cason; son, Steven Cason; sisters: Jean Bennett, Katie Kight, Rebecca Cason, and Myrtle Douglas; brothers: Raymond Cason and Danny Cason.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Ann Cason; daughter, Kylee (Michael) Burns of Hahira, GA; son, Buddy (Sheri) Cason of Cumming, GA; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Verna Thomas of Valdosta, GA and Latrelle Wrye of Lakeland, GA; brother, Ronnie Cason (Faye) of Manor, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
