Of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at his residence. He was born on May 15, 1933, in Murray County, Georgia to the late Luke and Sallie Ridley. Mr. Ridley retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years. Following retirement, he worked with the Lanier County Board of Education as a Vocational Instructor. Teaching was not a job, but a passion. He loved to see his students succeed. While working in the school system he served as the Advisor of VICA. He served in various positions in the First Freewill Baptist Church in Valdosta including Pastor. Mr. Ridley was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ridley, and his second wife, Louise Ridley and a sister, Maudie Swiney

Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Renee & Woody Stewart, Gainesville, Ga; 2 Sons & Daughter-in-law, Tom & Carla Ridley, Valdosta, Ga, Ken Ridley, Toccoa, Ga; 5 Grandchildren: David & Brandy Ridley, Mark Ridley, Matt Ridley, Tony Stewart, Daniel Stewart; Step Grandson: James Payne and a sister, Marlene Postell, Chatsworth, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 9, 2007, in the First Freewill Baptist Church in Hahira. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be rendered. Mr. Ridley will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, November 8, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
