Of Valdosta passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Chester, GA on October 22, 1924 to the late Jack and Kathleen Martin Rowland. Mr. Rowland retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service to his country and returned to the Lowndes and Brooks County area over 37 years ago. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sachiko Rowland of Valdosta; daughter, Wynell Montgomery of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Jason Mindy Woodall of Memphis, TN; Candace Woodall of Valdosta; Cyndi Tsali Hall of Santa Fe, NM; Joshua Julia Montgomery of Valdosta. Also his sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty John Belcher of Quitman; Dorothy James Tucker of Quitman; brothers & sisters-in-law, Gene Irene Rowland of Caribou, ME; Virgil Peggy Rowland of Blairsville; nine great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Cleve Rowland and Jack Rowland and sister Robbie Nell Rowland.
Graveside services were held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl where full military honors were rendered.
