Eddie Hayward Joyce 64
Of Statenville passed away Tuesday May 9, 2006 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lanier County on February 26, 1942 to the late Eddie and Wilma Joyce. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years obtaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer before his retirement. He proudly served aboard USS Seawolf. After retiring from the Navy he attended Valdosta State College where he received a bachelors degree in education. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and Alapaha Lodge #209 in Echols Co. GA. In 1999 he received the Mason of the Year award and in 2002 his 25 year certificate. He loved attending the Senior Citizens Center in Echols County.
Survivors Include: Wife, Sharon Joyce, Statenville, Daughter and Son-in-law, Lena Joyce & Jeffrey Coppage, Statenville, Step-Son, George Bert, Lake Park, Step Daughter, Wendy & Steve Blackwell, Cleveland, Ga, 5 Grandchildren; Olivia Joyce Coppage, Beau Coppage, Caitlin Blackwell, Davis Blackwell and Savannah Blackwell, Sisters and Brother-in-law, Latrelle Oxford, Live Oak, Fl, Dottie Harbin, Jacksonville, Fl, Betty J. Cochran, Lakeland, Fl, Edna & Vern Maloney, Valdosta, Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Waver H. Joyce, Statenville, WM. R. & Sandy Joyce, Lake City, Fl, Jesse & Verna Joyce, Navarre, Fl. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Friday May 12, 2006 in the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Boykin and Rev. Royce McCurdy officiating. Burial followed in Statenville Cemetery where full military honors and Masonic rites will be rendered.
