Edith Sirmans Mayo, 96, of Ray City, Georgia passed away on January 26, 2026, at SGMC. She was born to the late Daniel W. and Mamie Fountain Sirmans on September 6, 1929, in Berrien County, Georgia. She will be remembered as a woman of faith as she served the Lord for many years. Her church family at First Baptist Church of Ray City benefited from her faith as she worshiped and served with her brothers and sisters in Christ for over 78 years. She witnessed to many in her beauty shop, as well as at Nashville Textiles, where she worked for years, and later at a senior home she ran with her husband, Elwood. We will surely miss this special mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend who loved and guided us.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Terry Lee; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne & Brenda Peters; grandchildren Dane (Denise) Peters, Brittany (Britt) Antulov-Taylor; great-grandchildren Lauren (Dalton) Brazeal, Jackson Antulov, Grayson Antulov, Madison Taylor; great-great grandchild, Eleanor Brazeal; many wonderful nieces and nephews, and caregiver, Patricia Calhoun. Mrs. Mayo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood Mayo; sons, Robert Earl and Dan Peters; brother, Brocy Sirmans; sisters: Lerine Harris, Victoria Bradley, Clara Sirmans, and Margaret Stalvey.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Ray City with Rev. Robbie Peay and Rev. Mikey Gibbons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Beaver Dam Cemetery in memory of Mrs. Mayo. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices .com.
