Edna Roye Allen Walden, age 90, off Lakeland, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1935, in Stockton, Georgia, to the late Roy S. Allen and Edith T. (Scurry) Allen.
Edna dedicated more than 30 years to the Lanier County Board of Education, where she served as the Lunchroom Manager and became affectionately known by generations of students and staff. She was also the oldest living member of Southside Baptist Church/Truthpoint, a place that remained dear to her heart throughout her life.
Edna had a love for hummingbirds and flowers and was known for having a “green thumb.” She had a true servant’s heart and found joy in caring for others, most especially through her cooking. For many years, she lovingly prepared meals for Pearl Todd with the Valdosta Baptist Association, a service she considered a blessing rather than a task.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles “Chuck” Walden, Sr; her son, Charles “Charlie” Walden, Jr; sisters: Patty Griffis (Bobby) and Joann Allen; brother, James Allen.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl Sheffield (Mike) of Lake Park, Georgia, Kim Parrish, Kay Walden and Karen Walden all of Lakeland, Georgia and Brandon Walden (Tabitha) of Griffin, Georgia; grandchildren: Bucky Walden, Katie Walden, Carli Sheffield, David Parrish (Melissa), Steven Parrish (Jennifer), Bryan Parrish (Codie), Taylor Simpson (Jorge Angel), Emma Walden, Zachary Walden and Michael Sheffield (Cris); 13 great grandchildren; siblings: Smitty Allen (Marie) of Stockton, Georgia; Carlton Allen (Sandra) of Lake Park, Georgia, Carroll Allen (Linda) of Arnoldsville, Georgia, Sue Register of Lake Park, Georgia and Judy Taylor (Dewayne) of Harrisburg, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Southside Baptist Church/Truthpoint with burial to follow in Good Hope Cemetery, Naylor, Georgia. Rev. Bryan Parrish and Rev. Austin Deloach will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the funeral home.
