Edward Sirmans – 83

Of Lakeland, passed away at his home early Thursday morning May 27, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born March 31, 1927 in Lanier County to the late Carlie Powell and Mattie Roe Sirmans. He was a lifelong farmer and worked around Lanier County with his farming operation. He grew tobacco until 2000 and he retired from active farming in 2007. He still maintained a large garden and supervised his children’s gardens near his home. He enjoyed riding his golf cart around the neighborhood giving advice where needed and down to Ray City. He even participated in the local Fourth of July parade. He also loved attending auctions in the surrounding area. He drove the school bus for Lanier County for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Wendy McConnell Carney; son-in-law, Dave McConnell; 2 brothers, Rudolph Sirmans and Horace Sirmans.

5 Grandchildren: Rodney Sirmans, Dustin Sirmans, Reed Sirmans, Mason Sapp, Daniel McConnell

8 Great Grandchildren: Kyle Sirmans, CarliLeigh Sirmans, Dusty Sirmans, Jasleigh Sirmans, Lacey Sirmans, Melanie Sapp, Conner Sapp, Sara Grace McConnell

2 Step Grandchildren: Dylan Holbrook and Reid Holbrook

6 Sisters: Arlene Brogdon, Linda Paschal, Louise Sanders, Martha Bailey, Barbara Warren, Kathy Sirmans

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services and burial will follow in Fender Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, May 28, 2010 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
