Edwina Dean Skinner, 78
Of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away Saturday evening, January 25, 2025, at the Langdale Hospice House. Edwina was born on June 13, 1946, in Kirkland, Georgia, to the late Otis Dean and Henrietta Lewis Dean. She was employed by the Lanier County Board of Education as a lunchroom server at the Primary School for 33 years. Edwina found immense joy in being both a mother and a grandmother. Her heart was full of love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Every moment spent with them was a cherished gift, and she poured her warmth, wisdom, and affection into each generation. The bonds she shared with them were a source of great pride and happiness, making her family the center of her world.
Along with her parents, Edwina is preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Skinner; grandson, Derek Brown; sisters: Eloise Harper, Billie Sue Fountain, Lora Mae Sutton, and Gladys Foxworth; and brothers: Buddy Dean, Willie James Dean, and Jerry Dean.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Robert Skinner of Lakeland, Georgia; three daughters: Sylvia Gaskins (Myron Mills) of Nashville, Georgia, Gloria Bailey (Timmy) of Lakeland, Georgia, and Annette Brown (Shorty) of Lakeland, Georgia; a son, Robert Skinner (Cheryl) of Lakeland, Georgia; grandchildren: Adam Gaskins (Jessica), Deanna Dowd (Chris Ellis), Justin Gaskins (Alyssa Fenderick), Brandy Brantley, Monica Berryhill (Zack), Erik Brown (Laura), Kayla Bennett (Scott), Valerie Skinner, and Lonnie Skinner (Megan); 11 great-grandchildren: Bailey Brantley, Reagan Brantley, Finn Berryhill, Raine Berryhill, Aiden Dowd, Ryan Dowd, Kealee Sipes, Declan Bennett, Leela Pendleton, Evelyn Skinner, and Clayton Skinner; sisters: Latrelle Dean of Tifton, Georgia, and Pansy Crosby (Ricky) of Tifton, Georgia; brothers: Daniel Dean (Pat) of Nashville, Georgia, Bobby Dean (Cynthia) of Bainbridge, Georgia, Benny Dean (Vonice) of Lakeland, Georgia, Dwayne Dean (Carol) of Tifton, Georgia, and Lewis Dean of Tifton, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Skinner (Ann) of Nashville, Georgia; and sister-in-law, Wylene Skinner of Nashville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Arabia Primitive Baptist Church in Clinch County, Georgia, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
