Of Stockton, Ga. passed away Friday, June 09, 2006 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born April 21, 1927 to the late Sherman & Ester Lavaughn McCook Bennett in Berrien County, Georgia. He lived most of his life in Stockton. He worked as a truck driver and traveled to every state except Alaska. He was known on the CB as “the Georgia Smoker”. He was a veteran of the Army and Air Force, while in the service he served in WWII in Italy and Korean Conflict in Japan. He was a member of D.A.V. and Lakeland Lodge # 434. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Stockton Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Daughter, Darlene Bennett, Ft. Benning, Ga., Son & Daughter-in-law, Sam & Paula Bennett, Lakeland, Ga., 5 Grandchildren, 11 Step-Grandchildren, Loving Partner, Myrtle Bennett, Stockton, Ga., Step-Daughters & Sons-in-law; Peggy & Robert Langdale, Lakeland, Ga., Pam & Dennis Fender , Stockton, Ga., Terri & Wayne Cook , Nashville, Ga., Step-Son & Daughter-in-law, Clyde & Patsy Bennett, Stockton, Ga., Brother, George Bennett, Stockton, Ga., Sister-in-law, Pat Bennett, Stockton, Ga., Special Friend, Shelby Johns, Howell, Ga. and a number of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Stockton Baptist Church.
