Died peacefully of natural causes in A G Rhodes Nursing Home in Marietta, GA under hospice care. She was born in Atlanta, GA, graduated from Druid Hills High School in Decatur, and attended the University of GA where she met her husband of 48 years, George Lee West.

They settled in Statesboro, GA, 1955-1972, where she was an active member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church, a UMW officer, PTA officer, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Garden Club Member and enjoyed sewing, reading and playing bridge.

They moved to Nashville, GA where she worked at Berrien County Hospital and was a member of the United Methodist Church. They lived in Lakeland Georgia, 1974-1987, where she worked at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital and was a member of Unity Methodist Church. George and Eleanor relocated to Valdosta, GA where she worked at South Georgia Medical Center for more than 15 years, and they were members of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband- George West, her parents-Wilbur and Mattie Hyer Nall, and her brother-Blair Nall. She is survived by four daughters: LeAnne West Findley Rick of Easley SC, Sharon West Tucker Tim of Winston- Salem N.C., Beverly West Stonecipher Ross of Roswell, GA and Patricia West of Fernandina Beach FL. She has seven grandchildren, Amy R. Smith, Ashley and Amanda Tucker, Brett and Haley Stonecipher and Matthew and Jordan Garmon. She has three great-grandchildren, Logan, Sarah and Landry Smith.

Music Funeral Services of Lakeland Georgia is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Sat., July 31, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Services and burial will be held at Unity United Methodist Church, 224 Unity Church Road, in Lakeland Georgia at 2:00 pm on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010. Donations to Unity United Methodist Church or a hospice agency of your choice may be made in lieu of flowers.
