Elvera Gibbs Elliott – 87
Of Quitman, GA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA. She was born on May 3, 1928 in Brooks County, GA to Sam and Emma Hayes Gibbs. On April 22, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, William R. Bill Elliott. To this union, two children were born, Donald R. and Vera Ann Elliott. In 1960 the Elliott Family "adopted" Douglas F. Sparks.
Mrs. Elliott was saved at an early age. She and Mr. Bill were very active members of Northside Baptist until age and health became an issue.
She was preceded in death by her only brother, Turner Gibbs and his wife Geneva, her son, Donald R. Elliott, her daughter, Vera Ann and her husband of 65 years, Mr. Bill Elliott.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her son, Douglas, his wife Debbie, Donald's wife, Linda and Mrs. Elliott's best friend and niece, Catherine Hiers. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 5:30PM at Northside Baptist Church in Quitman, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Northside Baptist Church, 8559 U.S. Hwy 84, Quitman, GA 31643 or In His Name Ministry.
