Of Lakeland, GA passed away at his residence, Saturday, June 21, 2008, after a sudden illness. He was born on September 23, 1929, in Atkinson County, GA to the late Martin C. and Ella Pafford Corbett. He graduated from Pearson High School then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Southern College and then received a Master of Education from Valdosta State College. He also received a Lifetime Educator Certificate from Georgia Department of Education. After 38 years of service in education, Mr. Corbett retired from Echols County School System where he served as Principal for 9 years. He was currently serving as Pastor at Rhine United Methodist Church and Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Theresa Corbett, Iva Bennett, Kathleen Guthrie, Jessie Corbett, Mary Lydia Edgar; and 1 brother: M.C. Corbett, Jr.

Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-Law: Christine & Sonny Southers, Lake City, FL; 2 Sons & Daughter-in-Law : James Emory & Tracy Corbett, Valdosta, GA, Phillip Newsome Corbett, Jasper, FL; 4 Grandchildren: Lydia Kathleen Corbett, Hunter Ethan Corbett, David Alexander Corbett, and Joseph Evan Corbett; 2 Brothers & Sister-in-Law: Johnny Corbett, Rome, GA, Newsome & Ernestine Corbett, Macon, GA; Sister & Brother-in-Law: Martha & Glenn Chancey, Alapaha, GA; Sister-in-Law: Mrs. M.C. Corbett, Jr., Pearson, GA; A number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Springhead United Methodist Church with burial following in Springhead Cemetery. He will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 23, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
