Ernestine Zeigler – 87 of Mayday, Georgia passed away on Wednesday November 4, 2020 in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 1, 1933 in Withers, Georgia to the late Bertie Elma (Stone) and James “Jim” Aaron Bennett. Ernestine enjoyed singing and listening to her family sing and play. She attended the Statenville Church of God. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings: Pat Bennett, Grover Bennett, Bill Bennett, Doug Bennett, Jim “Bug” Bennett, Jr, and Shirley Hughes.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Lawrence Zeigler of Mayday, GA; Daughter and Son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Whitman of Mayday, GA; Sons and Daughters-in-law: Ricky and Debbie Zeigler of Mayday, GA, Leon and Cindy Zeigler of Statenville, GA; Grandchildren: Andy Reid (Stacy), Kim Henderson (Dennis), Stephanie Burnham (Michael), Rick Zeigler (Mollie), Shannon Bennett, Brandi Harvey (Will), Jami Zeigler (Jenna), and Carmen Zeigler (Mitch); 2 Step Grandchildren: Dan Barnes (Jessica), Casey Kohl (Emily); 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 step grandchildren; Sisters-in-law: Janie Doris Bennett of Stockton, GA; Maureen Bennett of Cape Cod, MA and Furry companion, Buddy.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 6, 2020 in the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602. The Zeigler Family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta.
