Of Valdosta passed away Friday, March 16, 2007 in Crestwood Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 27, 1919 to the late Zeke & Lula Bell Allen Carter and had lived all of her life in Lowndes County, GA. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Gay, 3 sons, Bobby Gay, Jimmy Gay and Billy Gay, two brothers, Carey Carter and P.C. Carter and a sister, Lena Mae Stiebritz.
Survivors include:Son, Randy Gay, Valdosta, GA, 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law Maxine & Reece Coody, Brooks County, GA, Hazel & Eddie Bynum, Valdosta, GA, 17 Grandchildren, a number of Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the funeral home. The family would like to send a special thank to Crestwood Nursing Home Staff, United Hospice of South Georgia and a special friend, Chindel Spriggs for their love and support.
