Passed away on November 16, 2013 in Kannapolis, NC. Faynell was a long time resident of Valdosta, GA and a graduate of Valdosta High School. After graduation she held jobs at Metal Products, Stephens Legal Office, Modern Homes, United Way, and for many years at Eddie Laws Furniture Store. Faynell also did bookkeeping for several businesses in the area over the years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association serving as secretary. Faynell loved to be with people, her pets, attending Valdosta High football games, dancing and traveling. She moved to Athens, GA in 2006 and then to Kannapolis, NC in 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vergia Barrett; her sister, Lila Grady; and her daughter-in-law, Joy Haynes Schomberg. She is survived by two sons, Robby Schomberg Charlotte of Concord, NC, and Dr. Harry Schomberg of Greenbelt, MD; three grandchildren- Jim Yexsy, Emily, and Luke Schomberg; two great-grandsons- Christopher and Alexander; and nephew Tommy Grady. Visitation will be at Valdosta Music Funeral Services, Thursday evening, November 21, 2013 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at 10 am in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services on Friday, November 22, 2013 followed by internment at Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. David Lasseter will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in Faynell's honor, or donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/donate .
