Frances Lovejoy Moorman - 97
Of Lakeland, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Lakeland Villa. Mrs. Frances was the only child born to Dr. James and Verdie Baskins Lovejoy. She graduated from Lanier County High and went on to earn a 2 year business degree from South Georgia College. Mrs. Frances was a savvy business woman owning and operating Moorman Hardware and Furniture Company for 30 years. Besides owning and operating the hardware store she was also a building contractor and a real estate agent. Mrs. Frances was the first woman to serve on the Board of Directors for the Valdosta Country Club. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Lakeland United Methodist Church. For the last 15 years, Mrs. Frances has resided at the Lakeland Villa. Mrs. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Simeon Moorman and her son, Dr. James W. "Jimmy" Moorman.

Great Grandchildren: Robert Aston Moorman, Warren Bay Moorman, Ashley Mills Moorman, Marli Kate Moorman, soon to come Maggie Taylor Moorman, Ivy Elizabeth McCranie, Catherine Anne McCranie, and Joseph Perry McCranie
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 in the Lakeland United Methodist Church and burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lanier Health Services Foundation for the Villa, 116 W. Thigpen Ave., Lakeland, GA 31635 or to the Lakeland United Methodist Church, 80 W. Main St., Lakeland, GA 31635, or Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
