Franklin Hunter – 78 was born on March 3, 1942 in Ray City, GA. He is the son of the late Willene (Wood) and Chester Hunter. Franklin started working at USDA/ASCS at the age of 16 and worked until his retirement in 1995. He worked in Muscogee County, Talbotton, GA, and Harris City as an Executive Officer. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War from 1960 to 1964. He was a member of the American Legion Post 331, VFW Post 5978 Nashville, and the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Ray City, GA. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Patricia Ann McLaughlin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia F. Hunter; Sons: James “Jim” Hunter and wife, Scotty of Jacksonville, FL, Robert “Chet” Hunter and wife, Priscilla of Lakeland, GA, Henry Hunter and wife, Cindy of Lakeland, GA, David Hunter of Valdosta, GA; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, Brothers: William Hunter of Kennesaw, GA, and Jesse Hunter of Jasper, GA.
A memorial service for Franklin will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday October 15, 2020 in the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Ray City, GA with burial to follow in Fender Cemetery. The family has asked that mask be worn and practice social distancing. Messages of sympathy can be left at
