Frazier “Wayne” Jernigan, age 81, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center. Wayne was born, October 23, 1944, to the late Archie Daniel Jernigan and Daisy Lee Jones Jernigan in Naylor, GA.
He was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, building a career in Aircraft Armament Mechanic Weapons Loader also known as Ordnance Specialist before retiring as an E-7, Master Sergeant.
Outside of his military career, he enjoyed the simple things that brought him joy. He loved fishing, drag racing, and watching football, especially Georgia Bulldogs. He also had a playful personality and loved messing with and picking on those who could take a good joke. His sense of humor could bring laughter to those around him and was a special part of who he was.
He enjoyed spending time in his garden, where he found peace in planting and tending to his plants. Most recently, he had planted some rosemary.
He will be remembered for his service, his humor, his many passions, and the countless memories he created with the people who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 57 years, Mary Joann Jernigan; siblings, Ava Nell Blanchard, Mildred Croft, Gloria Luke, Archie Jernigan, Claude Jernigan, Merle Blanton, Dorothy Blanchard, Myrtle Coody, Alfred Jernigan and Gladys Lofton.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Jerry Blanton; son, Jeff Jernigan and wife Denise of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter Julie Green and husband Greg of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Cindy Hughes and husband Anthony of Valdosta, Georgia; son Cam Jernigan and wife Crystal of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Frazier Findley, Jennifer Carter (Josh), Colton Green (Kaylee), Daniel Jernigan, Ryann Green, Micah Jernigan and Andrew Dickerson; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Per his wishes he will be cremated with no formal services held. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com . The Jernigan family is being served by the caring and professional staff of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.
