Gene Clements – 82
 
 
 Of Gordon, GA passed away Friday afternoon March 14, 2014 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA after a brief illness. He was born January 23, 1932 to the late John Quincy and Fannie Bell Turner Clements in Lanier County, GA. Gene grew up in Lakeland went to Chicago for a short time before returning to Lakeland to farm. Soon after his return to Lakeland he was drafted into the United States Army serving 2 years during the Korean War. After his return from the service he and his wife Clara moved to Tampa, FL living in Hillsborough County, FL for 52 years. His love of hunting and fishing with his family caused them to move to Gordon, GA where they acquired land with many ponds and wild game. As a father Gene loved to keep the deer fed during the off season. He acquired a passion for turkey hunting that also kept him busy. He enjoyed fishing therefore feeding the fish and fishing all year kept his occupied. Coming from a farming background he continued to till the soil and plant a garden of peas, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes and other things. Always having something growing he kept busy with his hoe. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

 Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday March 17, 2014 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Empire Cemetery in Lanier County, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to services. Sympathy may be expressed online at
