Of Lakeland, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at her daughter's residence in Valdosta, GA. She was born in Claremont, GA on May 12, 1921 to the late Alvin and Mary Frances O'Kelley Nix. Mrs. Conine was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church and one of her greatest joys on earth was being a loving, wonderful mother to her children and wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Conine, sisters; Kathleen Bruce, Ruth Conine, Susie Wilcox, brothers; Harry Nix, James Nix.
Survivors include: Son, Jerry Sanders of Lakeland, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law Mary Frances & John Hightower of Valdosta, GA; Granddaughter; Rhea & Tim Bargeron of Waterbury, CT. Ann Warren of Willacoochee, GA, Kelley Hightower of Ringgold, GA. Grandson; Ashley & Tiffany Hightower of Hickory, NC. Step Granddaughter; Lisa & John Bryant of Albany, GA. 8 Great Grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews & extended family members. Caregivers: Stephanie Voltz & Sheila Solomon.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00am in The Chapel of Music Funeral Services in Lakeland, GA. with burial following the service at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the funeral home. A special thanks to Hospice of South Georgia for the passionate care provided.
