George Pate Horne, Jr. – 77
Of Valdosta passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dooly County, GA on September 18, 1931 to the late George Pate & Allie Joiner Horne. He was employed with ITT Metal Products for 27 years. Mr. Horne enjoyed spending time with family, working in the yard and traveling. He was a member of Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Colquitt County, GA. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of children, Mary Frank Felts Horne, daughter, Mary Regina Horne, sister, Doris Freeman, brothers, James Horne & Robert Horne and a grandson, Jacob Tyler Horne.
Survivors include:Wife Mary Faye Cowart Horne, Valdosta, GA, Daughters & Sons-in-law, Etta & Matt Faggioni, Adel, GA, Angelina & Greg Brown, Moultrie, GA, Sons & Daughter-in-law, Alan Horne, Austin, TX, Kevin & Teresa Horne, Sanford, NC, Step-Children, Kay & Greg Hardesty, Valdosta, GA, Randy Tomlinson, Tifton, GA, Rusty & Lisa Tomlinson, Ft. Campbell, KY, 19 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, Brother & Sister-in-law, Charles & Betty Horne, Adel, GA, Sister & Brother-in-law Allie Jean & Billy Betts, Adel, GA, And a number of nieces and nephews who greatly loved their Uncle Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2009 in New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Hahira, GA with Elder Dwight Marshall, Elder Bob Dickerson, Dr. Clyde Stokes and Elder Buck Wood. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Horne will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 30, 2009 at the funeral home.
