Gerald David Weeks

Gerald David Weeks, age 89, passed away, Tuesday, November 21, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center surrounded by family after a brief illness. He was a resident of Fellowship Home.
Gerald was born December 14, 1932, in Valdosta, GA to the late H.M. Weeks and Clara Peterson Weeks Rampey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Katie Connell Weeks; his brothers Harold and Larry Weeks and a sister, Nancy Noveh.
In 1952, Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was assigned to Scott AFB in Belleville, IL until 1954. While there he trained at radio school and served as an instructor. He also served overseas in Korea, just 8 miles from the cease-fire line. He returned stateside serving at Donaldson AFB in Greenville, SC until reassigned to Scott AFB for the second time. He was honorably discharged in March 1956, but he remained in the Air Force active reserve for four years and was on a 30-day call-up notice.
In civilian life he worked in civil service at Moody AFB; as an engineer for WJEM and WVLD radio stations; and at Georgia Power as a tele-communication superintendent until retiring after 20 years.
Gerald was a faithful Christian, who loved his family and lived his Christian beliefs every day. He was a member of Lake Park Christian Church.
His favorite hobby was motorcycles. He enjoyed attending cycle rallies and rebuilding older motorcycles.
Gerald is survived by his children: Danny (Susan) Weeks of Valdosta, GA; Diane Wetherington of Nashville, GA; Donna (John) Jones of Hahira, GA. Grandchildren: Ryan Wetherington of Vienna, IL; Kyle (Courtney) Wetherington of Bluffton, SC; Sally Jones of Hahira, GA; Kelly Jones of Chapel Hill, NC. Brother: Henry Weeks of Kenner, LA.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 o’clock AM, Friday, November 25, 2022 at Music Funeral Services, Valdosta. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Carter Cemetery in Echols County. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity.
