Glenda Sue Norris - 70
It is with a heavy heart that we share the sudden passing of my beloved mother, Glenda Sue Stanley, of Valdosta, Georgia, on Saturday, May 9, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on January 11, 1955, in Winter Haven, Florida, to the late Herbert and Clara Belle (Ellis) Lindsey. She left us unexpectedly after a heart attack, leaving a void that can never truly be filled. Those who knew her, even just a little, understood the depth of her unconditional love. She had a rare gift for accepting people as they were, whether in times of joy or struggle, always extending her heart without judgment.
My mother had a remarkable talent for nurturing life, not just in the people around her but also in the gardens she so lovingly tended. She could coax blooms from the most reluctant plants, just as she inspired growth in the lives she touched. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly throughout her life – from running small businesses, building nurseries from the ground up, and even becoming a top Diamond consultant in Central Florida.
Unfortunately, in her later years, health challenges and a series of falls took a significant toll, making it impossible for her to sustain the ventures she once thrived in. Despite these struggles, she never lost her fierce independence or the ability to remind those around her to “never give up” and to “always believe in yourself.”
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Roy Stanley; her son, Christopher Eric Shaw; her grandson, Jacob Ronald Gough; her brothers, Larry Lindsey and Buddy Dukes; and her son-in-law, Teddy Gough.
Survivors include her daughter, Jessica Stanley of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Lindsey Lewis (Billy) of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, James Gough, Kaysie Gough, Jessalyn Benson, Rayna Lewis, Courtney McShane, and Iris Lewis; great-grandchild, Damian Abernathy; sisters, Alice Thomas (Paul) of Auburndale, Florida, and Cirsha Stephens (Curtis) of Lakeland, Florida; brother, Howard Dukes of Lake Wales, Florida; sister-in-law, Paula Dukes of Lakeland, Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
