Gordon Wisenbaker 85
Of Dasher passed away Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 17, 1922 in Lowndes County to the late Emory and Berta Webb Wisenbaker. Mr. Wisenbaker served in the United States Army in the 457th Ordance Evacuation Company where he received the World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. Following his service to his country he and his wife returned to Dasher, purchased property and began farming, ranching and raising their family. Anyone who knew Mr. Wisenbaker would say he enjoyed fishing with grandchildren, trapping and hunting but especially talking. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Serra Wisenbaker.
Survivors Include: Wife, Doris Wisenbaker, Dasher; 2 Daughters & Sons in Laws, Betty & Ron Barton, Lawrenceville, GA, Marie & Rick Waters, Athens, GA; 3 Sons and Daughters-in-law, Buddy Wisenbaker, Dasher, John & Lee Wisenbaker, Dasher, Larry & Elizabeth Wisenbaker, Hahira; Grandchildren: John, Jarid, Jodi, William, Lindsey, Amy, Katie Wisenbaker; Sister, Harriette Bluhm, Wenatchee, WA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 5, 2007 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Dasher Cemetery.
