Harold Robert Buckholts, 92, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away on May 21, 2026, at Fellowship Home of Nashville. He was born on March 23, 1934, in Ray City, Georgia to the late John Robert and Carrie Mae (Wiggins) Buckholts.
Harold was ordained as a deacon in 1980 and remained active in Sunday School at Greenwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, especially in his motor home, and had a passion for auto mechanics. From the ages of 13 to 18, he delivered newspapers for the Valdosta Daily Times in Dupont. Above all, Harold loved his family dearly.
His proudest achievement was serving his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years. The year he was selected as a Chief Master Sergeant, he was ranked the number one candidate in the entire Air Force.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Hal Buckholts; sisters: Irene Buckholts Smith (Calvin), Kathleen Buckholts Preston; brothers: Willie Carrol Buckholts, J F Buckholts, Jimmy Buckholts, and Joel Buckholts.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Nita Reeves Buckholts; daughter, Jan Smithey (Rhett) of Lake City, Florida; son, David Buckholts (Sandra) of Hahira, Georgia; daughter, Kathi Hollis (Walt) of Panama City, Florida; daughter-in-law, Kimmerlee Buckholts of Tomball, Texas; grandchildren: Tiffany Buckholts, Jeena Taylor (Casey), Kelsi Hollis McLendon (Jeffrey), Anna Hollis White (Perry), Lindsay Buckholts, Bill Wilder, Amy Proctor (Mitchell); great grandchildren: Leighton Smith, Brayden Buckholts, Lynen Taylor, Zachary Proctor; brother, Wade Buckholts; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow at Pleasant Cemetery in Nashville, Georgia. Family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse. Kind words and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
