Harriette was passionately devoted to her family, church, friends and members of her community. Always dedicated to meeting the needs of others, she spent countless hours sewing, bringing meals, and serving people. She was faithful to never forget a birthday or anniversary and never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus through an encouraging word, a card or a phone call. She made sure her kids knew that if they could stay out on Saturday night to they could plan on being at church on Sunday morning. As a young girl, she learned the value of hard work growing up on her familys farm in Valdosta, Georgia. She was a tomboy, climbing trees and playing outside. She was very proud of her southern heritage. Before age 16 she went to Brunswich, St. Simons, GA, on a special youth program and lived in the barracks while working in the shipyard and being required to maintain high grades. Her favorite sport was when she played basketball at Lake Park High School in Georgia. After high school, she attended many executive secretarial training programs. During the war, she worked as a machinist and inspector and was being trained as a mechanic at Warner Robbins Air force base, a real Rosie the Riveter. She worked for many years at Bell South Telephone Company. Her proudest achievement was her family and we thank her for her love and sacrifice. Harriettes life was not void of hardships. Despite significant health challenges from a car accident, she always trusted in the goodness of her Savior, remaining faithful in prayer. She was the family prayer-warrior, and always the pillar of strength for her family members.
