Harry Lee Mayer – 77
Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mayer was born on December 2, 1944 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Charles Fernie and Mary Agnes (Sutton) Mayer. He worked as machinist at Dowling Bag Company and Owens-Illinois and was a member of New Harvest Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerry Mayer.
Survivors include his Loving wife of 30 years, Jan Mayer of Valdosta, Georgia; 2 Daughters, Sonya Mayer (Frank Davis) of Valdosta, Georgia and Susan Herrera and husband Theodore of Nashville, Georgia; 2 Step Sons, Richard Porterfield of Valdosta, Georgia and Lee Porterfield and wife Tracy of Brunswick, Georgia; Grandchildren: Brooke Burke and fiancé Tyler Register, Robert Herrera, Lakyn Davis, Franklin Davis, Dr. Chase Herrera and wife Donielle, Chris Gill and wife Allison Brianna Ricker and husband Josh, Hannah Porterfield and Franklin Davis;2 Great Grandchildren: Elsie Ricker and Sutton Herrera Brother, Tommy Mayer and wife Joan of Quitman, Georgia; Brother, James Sutton and wife Caroline of Nashville, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday July 12, 2021 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the funeral home.
