Hazel Vera Norris was born in Francesville, Indiana area on July 2, 1935 to the late James Lroy Norris and Hester Mildred Miller Norris, and passed out of this life on January 16, 2017 at her home in Brooks County, Georgia. She lived in Indiana for twenty-five years, eventually deciding to trade the cold of the north for the southern sunshine. She moved to Arkansas, then to Florida, coming to Lowndes County, Georgia in 1992.
Hazel made the decision to live her life for God at the age of five years. At that time she repented of her sins and was baptized in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ as the book of Acts tells us to do. She received the baptism of the Holy Ghost three days later.
Hazel was a very sweet girl and a very firm believer in "come what may" she would go on with Jesus. Nothing else really mattered, all the way through life. Hazel never married. She always planned to, but the right one never came. Her priorities were church and then children. She loved children and adopted two, a son, Jason, and a daughter, Brianna. She had many foster children and was a Brooks County foster parent for ten years. She also loved gardening and flowers.
Hazel is survived by her two children, Jason E. Norris of Lafayette, Indiana and Brianna S. Norris of Valdosta, one granddaughter, Amber Norris and great-grandson, Noah Cole of LaPorte, Indiana, three special foster children, Brenda Mull of Ray City, Georgia, Joseph Collins of Lafayette, Indiana and Kevin Burkhart of Marianna, Arkansas, as well as several other foster children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother, Ben E. Norris of Lafayette, Indiana, one sister, Ava N. Lee of the home in Brooks County, Georgia, a foster brother, Jimmie D. Whitfield of Mountain Home, Arkansas, one special niece, Barbara Norris of the home, and many other nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and some great-great nieces and nephews and friends, only one first cousin, Darlene Hansford of New Carlisle, Ohio.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
