Herman Tomlinson 68
Herman Tomlinson, lifelong resident of Homerville and Clinch County, passed away Sunday evening, January 4, 2004 at home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Clinch County to the late Marvin M. Tomlinson and Mina Tomlinson.
A native of Clinch County, Herman graduated from Clinch County High School, Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, and received a Forestry degree from the University of Georgia.
Herman had a lifetime career in Forestry as Vice President of Suwanee Timber, Fargo, President of Cypress Mulch, Fargo and Cypress Sales, Homerville, until his retirement in 2000.
Herman served in the US Army while stationed in Germany. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Homerville, Past Master Cassia Masonic Lodge #224, Shriners, Lake Verne, Arabia Bay Hunting Club, and Guest Pond.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Billye Sue Rigdon Tomlinson, three children, Kim Buddy Holwell of Quitman, Kerry Shannon Tomlinson of Homerville, and Kendra Tomlinson of McDonough, five grandchildren, Ashley, Bridges, Bryce, Taylor Holwell of Quitman and Paxton Blitch of Homerville, one brother, Herbert JoAnn Tomlinson of Homerville, one niece, Natalie Dave Vondersmith of Valdosta, one nephew Clay Tomlinson of Homerville, one great niece, Julia Vondersmith of Valdosta.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at First Baptist Church, Homerville. Burial followed in Arabia Cemetery.
