Homer “Poppy” Butler- 84
Of Lake Park, Georgia passed away at his residence Friday, July 12, 2024. Homer was born June 15, 1940, to the late George Clifton Butler and Lena Mae Aultman Butler in Andalusia, Alabama. Homer was a professional bondsman for 50 years plus. Someone once said, “it’s better to know him and not need him, than to need him and not know him”. He also served in the Army Reserves, he cherished his role as a brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith. Homer enjoyed spending time with family and friends with a love of fishing and watching sports. Along with his parents, Homer is preceded in death by a great grandson, Brandon Butler and a sister, Janie Oliver.
Survivors include: Sons and Daughters in law, Bart Butler (Debbie) of Valdosta, Georgia, Brett Butler (Andrea) of Valdosta, Georgia, Grandchildren; Derrik Butler (Ashli) of Valdosta, Georgia, Denton Butler of Brunswick, Georgia, Amber Butler of Valdosta, Georgia and Kaitlyn Butler of Valdosta, Georgia; Great Grandchildren, Lane Butler of Valdosta, Georgia, Bralin Dykes of Valdosta, Georgia and Harli Burler of Valdosta, Georgia, Sisters and Brother in law; Doris Felton (Charles) of Rowlesburg, Virginia and Pat Farr of Cookeville, Tennessee; Best Friend; Gelana Goddard of Valdosta, Georgia; Caretaker of 14 years, Rosa Calles of Valdosta, Georgia. A number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. A burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu flowers the family ask that donations be made to Camp Rock Horse Ministries, P.O. Box 1528, Valdosta, Georgia 31603.
