Howard Everett Bell, Sr. passed away at SGMC ICU in Valdosta, GA on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was born on February 1, 1931 to the late Adelbert and Edith (Barker) Bell of Pawtucket, RI.
He is preceded in death by his brothers: Adelbert Bell of Lincoln, RI; Donald Bell of Pawtucket, RI; Robert Bell of Omaha, NE; Sisters: Cora Jodat of Cumberland, RI; Edith Porter of Charlotte, NC; Velma Adams of Woodstock, VT; Beulah Dumas of Pawtucket, RI; Joan Flinkfelt of East Providence; RI and grandson, Daniel Bell of Junction City, KS.
Howard is survived by wife Dr. Lynn Rae (Zenner) Bell of Valdosta, GA; Sisters: Barbara Brockwell of Middleburg, CT; R. Joyce (Robert) Feld of Pawtucket, RI; Brother-in-law Robert Dumas of Pawtucket, RI; Sister-in-law Rose Bell of Omaha, NE; Sons: Howard (Jennifer) Bell, Jr. of LaVista, NE; Dwayne Bell, Sr. of Junction City, KS; Mark (Julie) Ferri of Sioux Falls, SD; Justin (Jennifer) Ferri of Omaha, NE; Daughters: Gwenn (Jon) Kunz of Gretna, NE; Rhonda (Brian) Nichols of Boone, IA; Megan Bell of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren: Dwayne (Kelly) Bell, Jr.; Ben Kunz; Emilie Kunz; Andrew Bell; Michael Kunz; Sean (Ashley) Nichols; Jessica (Nicholas) Woodard; Brianna Bell; Max Bell; Colin Ferri; Elizabeth Ferri; Alexandra Bell; Ethan Ferri; Nolan Ferri; and Great-Grandchildren: Mayme Bell; Serenity Bell; and many nieces and nephews.
Howard was a proud career Air Force Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring he started a second career as the Property Control Manager for the City of Omaha, NE. Howard was a longtime member of the Disabled American Veterans Organization in Omaha, NE and in Valdosta, GA. He and the late Paul Ward were key influencers for the Valdosta DAV Emory P Bass Chapter #14 Service Officer program. This program assists Veterans in filing Disability Claims with the VA. Because of the Valdosta Chapter’s dedication, by word of mouth, they are known throughout Georgia and our Country. Additionally, Howard was a recognized 20 year VA- Lake City, FL Volunteer. Howard will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC in April 2019. In lieu of flowers please send donations in memory of Howard E.
