Howard Allen “Poppi” Knight, age 68 of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia, after a brief illness. Howard was born January 7, 1954, in Homerville, Georgia, to the late Myrtle Fender Knight and John Russell Knight. He was a Civil Engineer with Moody Air Force Base before his retirement. He loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf and hunting. He loved all Georgia sports including the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren going to different functions such as band, jujitsu, basketball, baseball and football. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Knight and Walton Hayward Knight, and his beloved dog Max.
Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Peggy Livingston Knight of Lakeland, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, Bo Allen Knight and wife Mikki of Hahira, Georgia; a daughter and fiancé, Ashley Knight Bennett and Josh Fender of Ray City, Georgia; his grandchildren: Gannon Powell Knight, Arleigh Kaylin Knight, Tate Bennett, Levi Bennett, Chloe Fender and Kimber Fender; brothers: Pete Knight and wife Debra, and Dewayne Knight; one sister, Irma Jean Wilson all of Lakeland, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
