Of Lakeland passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 28, 1912 in Atkinson County, GA to the late Cale & Sarah McGahee. Mrs. Cowart retired from Levis Strauss & Company and was a foster grandparent with Lanier County Development Services. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeland and an active member of meals on wheels with the senior citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Joe Cowart and a brother, Robert McGahee.

Son Jimmy Sonny Cowart Lakeland, GA
3 Grandchildren: Don Boykin, Richard Cowart, Denise Harper

A number of nieces, nephews and cousins
Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2006 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Rev. John Bracken officiating. Burial will follow in Arabia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Lakeland, 430 E. Main Street, Lakeland, GA. 31635, in memory of Ione Cowart.
