Iris Romayne Hunter Cormell, age 90, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026. She was born to loving parents French Rice Hunter and Anna Grace Riffitt Hunter in Miami, OK on June 14, 1936.
She was a talented and passionate interior decorator whose work took her all over the world, helping people and businesses create beautiful spaces. She enjoyed fishing and making stained glass and had a creative spirit that shined through everything she did. She loved sewing her own clothes and was always working on a new craft project. An avid gardener, her favorite flowers were irises, and she always kept fresh bouquets around her home as a reminder of the beauty that surrounded her.
Above all, she cherished her family. She treasured the time she spent with her daughter, Melissa, and her son-in-law, Michael, whom she loved as her own son. In her final days, she found great comfort in being surrounded by them, singing her favorite songs and creating precious memories together.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of many years, Richard F Cormell; and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hope Holland, son in law, Michael Holland; two sons, and her grandchildren and her precious dog “precious”.
As per her wishes, Iris will be cremated with no formal services at this time. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com. The Cormell family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.
