Iris Rachel Stubbs, age 77, of Ray City, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. Iris was born August 13, 1944 in Ray City, Georgia to the late Ruth Arnold Herndon Luke and William Perry Luke. Iris was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. She adored her granddaughters and great-grandchildren and loved nothing more than spending time with them. She was a great cook and loved to cook for others. She loved the Lord and taught her children to love him also. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Laverne Luke, Eloise Moore, Emma Mae Simpson; brothers, Arlin Luke and Pete Luke; son-in-law: Jerome Carter.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband and only true love of fifty-nine years, Luther Stubbs of Ray City, Georgia; daughters: Sherry S. Vaughn and Chuck Southerland of Hawkinsville, Georgia; Donna S. Carter of Ray City, Georgia; granddaughters, Tabitha Walderman and husband Jeremy of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Kristen North and husband Micah of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Bryson Faulk, Bella Faulk, Sawyer Walderman, Liam Walderman, Boaz North, Ezra North; brother, Charles Luke of Valdosta, Georgia; sisters, Faye L. Arrowood and husband Ed of Ray City, Georgia, Chris L. Cribb and husband Henry of Ray City, Georgia; sister-in-law, Kathryn Luke of Starke, Florida; several nephews and nieces also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 O’clock PM, Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at New Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at
